She introduced us to both the people and the local flavors. We sampled delicious meats, cheeses, pastries (of course croissants!), produce, coffees and concluded in an adorable little wine shop! My very first food tour, ever, was with Silvia in the Latin Quarter area. She blended local shops, history and food, into a delightful concoction of experiences and delightful surprises for us to sample and savor. We had the best croissants the city had to offer, beouf bourguignon, crepes, cheese, baguettes, fresh strawberries & wine. A small dessert of a special meringue was a perfect ending to her tour. Absolutely Fantastic Food Tour in Paris!
Bonjour! Our all-girls group had the most delightful morning exploring the vibrant Marché d’Aligre thanks to our wonderful guide, Silvia. From the moment we met, the atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and so much fun!
This food tour was an absolute highlight of our trip to Paris. Our guide’s passion for the local cuisine, Paris history and the market itself was infectious. We were introduced to a fantastic selection of fresh fruit, artisanal bread, meats, cheeses and olives.
Beyond the incredible food, the tour took us to some charming local gems. The pain au chocolat was heavenly. We enjoyed fantastic coffee and the light and airy meringue was a delightful sweet treat. The final stop at Le Baron Rouge for a taste of wine and oysters was a fantastic way to round off the experience.
Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and made the entire experience so enjoyable. It felt like exploring the market with a local friend. What a wonderful experience we had with Silvia as our guide. Not only was she knowledgeable but so fun to be with. We had such a great time on Sylvia's tour of the Marais district. I am NOT one for tours. Maybe it’s my nature to want to explore and find adventures on my own, BUT, Silvia and Frenchxican tours was recommended to me by my oldest son……he now’s what I like and he wasn’t wrong with this recommendation. I highly recommend Silvia and this tour is you enjoy, French pastries. French baguettes. Fine coffee. Tours of open air markets, getting a local taste and flair of her neighborhood. Pastries. Cheese…..French cheese…..charcuterie as only the French can do and a local wine bar with the character that you’d only find in Paris. I live in Napa, CA so I know a little about wine atmosphere……the place she took us to you cannot find in Napa. Too bad!!
Oh, on a much more personal note, I had an issue with my first hotel reservation and I reached out to Silvia for a little help…..Again, she came through with flying colors.
Do I recommend this tour? Five stars…..YES! Do I recommend you take this tour just to experience Silvia? 10 stars…..YES!! You will not be disappointed.

My husband, 30 year old daughter, and I were fortunate enough to take Sylvia’s food tour which included one of the oldest markets in Paris in her neighborhood, sampling cheese, meats, coffee, and wine. While all of this all sounds ordinary in Paris, Sylvia brings the area alive with her stories and her love of the Parisian food and way of life. We felt like we were locals, visiting only local places that most tourists would never frequent.
